ATTLEBORO, MA – Bishop Feehan High School is excited to announce its entry into the highly-competitive Catholic Central League (CCL) for the 2020-21 school year and beyond. Feehan and Bishop Stang High School (Dartmouth, MA) will be joining the newly expanded CCL, further strengthening one of the premier co-ed athletic leagues in the Commonwealth.
In most sports, Feehan and Stang along with Archbishop Williams High School (Braintree)and Cardinal Spellman High School (Brockton) will join to form a four team “south” division within what has been the CCL Large. Arlington Catholic High School (Arlington), Austin Preparatory School (Reading), Bishop Fenwick High School (Peabody) and St. Mary’s High School (Lynn) will comprise a “north” division within the CCL Large.
The CCL also features long-time members Cathedral High School (Boston), Cristo Rey High School (Boston), Matignon High School (Cambridge) and Saint Joseph Prep High School (Boston) who will remain in the CCL Small division in most sports.
For Feehan this will mean a 10-game league schedule for most sports with home and away games against the three other south programs and a single cross-over game against each north team. Feehan is not expected to have cross-over games with the Small division schools. Feehan will remain independent in football, winter track and spring track.

We will have predictable schedules against really strong programs with terrific facilities. It’s a perfect fit, and we can’t wait to get started.”
The CCL has long been a leader in educational athletics, promoting exemplary sportsmanship, healthy competition, athletic excellence, and scholarly achievement. Comprised of Catholic, co-educational high schools from the North Shore to the South Shore, the CCL is rich in shared values and traditional rivalries. From schools earning state tournament victories to graduates excelling in all divisions at the college level, the CCL represents the very best in high school sports.
With the addition of Bishop Feehan and Bishop Stang, the CCL is now comprised of 12 schools, each with its own unique strengths, programs, culture, and emphasis, all sharing the same mission to provide the powerfully formative and transformative experience of a co-ed, college prep, Catholic education. From Arlington to Attleboro, from Boston to Braintree, the CCL is stronger with the addition of these two schools and poised to reach even greater heights in the coming decade.
The newly-expanded CCL features schools who have seen a great deal of statewide success in recent years, including more than 20 state titles in just the past four years. A short list of those includes: Archbishop Williams (baseball 2018, girls basketball 2018, 2017), Austin Prep (softball 2019, baseball 2018 and girls ice hockey 2016) Bishop Feehan (girls soccer 2019, girls basketball 2016), Bishop Fenwick (football 2019, girls cross country 2017, 2018 and girls basketball 2016), Bishop Stang (boys basketball 2016), Cardinal Spellman (boys basketball 2014), Cathedral (girls basketball 2019, 2017, 2016) and St. Mary’s (golf 2019, 2018, 2017, boys hockey 2017, boys basketball 2016).
Additionally, as the power rankings concept comes to the MIAA tournament in nearly all sports, winning CCL teams will have the types of resumes to ensure earning the tournament bids and high seeds they deserve.
CCL athletic directors are already working on schedules and details for the fall of 2020 and beyond with schedules coming out as they are finalized.
