40th Anniversary ECHO
40 Years of ECHO at Feehan
This year, Bishop Feehan High School’s ECHO retreat program celebrated its 40th anniversary with the participation of 110 students – its largest group to date. ECHO, “Encountering Christ in Others” is a retreat program designed for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors and invites young people to learn about God’s love for them and to see that love reflected in those around them. Well over 4,000 Bishop Feehan students have been touched as participants in this very popular senior retreat over the past 40 years. Special prayers were said for the late Father Tom Mayhew who started the program in 1968 while other anniversaries were celebrated for Patrick Cunningham ’81 of Lincoln, who has served at ECHO for 26 years and Feehan’s Vice Principal of Student Life, Kate Brandley, who has served for 25 years. Feehan joined with Coyle Cassidy High School to send their first group of students to ECHO in 1969. The first diocesan co-ed ECHO was in March of 1970. “I was so pleased at the turnout for ECHO’s 40th anniversary,” commented St. Pat Harrington, ECHO moderator for 40 years. “The dreams of Fr. Tom Mayhew continued this year at Cathedral Camp with our students.”
